Outer Harbour

The Port of Fremantle is projected to be at capacity within the next ten years, placing a significant constraint on investment in import and export related industries.

Through its commitment to the Perth Freight Link, the Barnett Government is spending taxpayer funds on a road network to service a port that is almost at capacity.

A longer term approach would involve fast tracking the development of new outer harbour. This would remove the constraints on trade related industries and would encourage the development of new industries. New world class transport infrastructure close to the Australian Marine Complex and the Kwinana Industrial Precinct would open up new opportunities, particularly for heavy industry and manufacturing.

A plan for WA jobs would redirect funding for the Perth Freight Link into the development of the new outer harbour and associated transport infrastructure.
